During the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon in August 2007 the possibility to arrange other types of arrangements within extreme endurance sport here in our community was put to consideration.
Eidfjord Utvikling AS (Eidfjord Development Inc) feels that Eidfjord has all the naturegiven conditions to establish more extremesport arrangements/events and approved a 3-year project with the working title "Xtremesport Eidfjord". The employer is Destination Eidfjord. The aim is one new arrangement per year in the periode outside of June 15th - September 1st.
As a born and bred Eidfjord girl and outdooor person Kari Varberg Øydvin has been employed in a 50% position which consists of developing "Xtreme endurance sport". Kari knows our community very well, she knows the nature and the mountains both summer and winter and is herself interrested in activities that can be defined as extremely enduring.
The first test arrangement was already September 19th - 21st 2008, this was an extreme "hill-race" that was be 3 days, 3 valleys and 3 waterfalls up! For more information, look at the link below.
